Jeet Chabbda was an artist, gallerist, collector, and filmmaker. She was the wife of Bal Chhabda, who started ‘Gallery 59’ in 1959 on the ground floor of the Bhulabhai Institute. Naturally, she spent time around some of the most influential artists of the era, V S Gaitonde, M F Husain, Ram Kumar, Krishen Khanna, S H Raza, and others. This creative environment had a clear impact on her art. She created abstracted pieces with vibrant undertones, often working in oils and collages.
Jeet lived and worked in Mumbai until her passing in 2008.
